Linguava Interpreters

I work at a clinic with a very diverse patient population. My experiences with Linguava have been frustrating and unproductive at the best of times. The operators seem to be determined to be as unhelpful as possible, sometimes even purposely obtuse and obstructive. We will be exploring our options. If we are stuck with Linguava, we will continue to leave as accurate reviews as possible, as I did with this one.

My experiences with Linguava have been frustrating and unproductive at the best of times. they need 12-panel drug screen 1: Proof of current flu shot 2: Negative TB screening within the past 12 months 3: Complete proof of MMR immunity (either 2 doses of the vaccine or a positive titer test) 3: Complete proof of Varicella immunity (either 2 doses of the vaccine or a positive titer test) 4: Record of Tdap shot within the past 10 years 5: Proof of Hepatitis B immunity so as interpreter you have to spend a lot on this. and some of them not helpful for every one.

I have been working as contractor interpreter with Linguava based on their needs and my availability, for more than a couple years now and although for the first year and half there were less or no issues, lately that has changed mainly related to the payment (hourly pay, not adding all the worked hours, late payment). Sure they have been apologetic and polite about it but the problem, thus far, has been a reoccurring one. Linguava does offer options for further development within the interpreting field which is useful. However if you wish to tap into the translating side while doing the interpreting as I thought would be something to do, then I don't feel that they have been helpful at all. I would summarize my thoughts by stating that overall I am still content about working with Linguava. This is mainly because I do like the nature of my medical interpreting work and also because Linguava is still among the better companies to work with, in the state of Oregon ( Oops, not a good promotion for the state or the other companies) My specific word of advice to any new interpreter; Don't accept any amount below the known average (either as qualified or not yet qualified interpreter) to work with Linguava or any other any interpreting company. Ask as many as you can to figure out what is the average. Remember most of them will hire you as contractor with very few benefits if any and in most cases the job won't provide you with a reliably steady income unless you are employed (not a contractor) which happens rarely in this line of work in this country.
